Building A Strong Foundation

SAN MARCOS MONTESSORI SCHOOL FOR INFANTS, BEGINNER PRESCHOOL, AND PRESCHOOL

About Us

We are a family run business with more than 20 years of experience in the Montessori Method. Our objective is to nurture your child and to help you with the important task of guiding his or her intellectual, emotional and physical development. The programs at our Montessori school include preschool, infant care and beginner preschool which provides daycare for toddlers in their early development. We are excited for the opportunity to continue our excellent program in the city of San Marcos, CA.

Our Mission

Our mission at the Montessori School of San Marcos is to provide our students with high quality education and care. Our goal is to build a strong foundation. We want to promote a child’s growth toward autonomy and partner with parents to develop responsible, respectful life- long learners.

We believe that by following the Philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori, a scientifically based system to our students not only benefits their growth and development during early childhood, but also throughout their lives. The Montessori philosophy is based on love for each child, respect for the child’s individuality and a strong desire to help each child realize their fullest potential

Featured Programs

INFANT

8 WEEKS - 24 MONTHS

Our Infant program offers a peaceful loving place where babies can explore and feel secure.  The environment is nurturing, stimulating, and soothing with plenty of hugs, cuddles, talking, and listening.  Teachers speak in gentle tones and provide a comfortable and loving atmosphere to our babies.  Each child in our care is an individual to be nurtured with affection and respect. Every detail is selected with the child’s whole development in mind.
Each of our infant rooms welcomes children as young as 8 weeks of age. Our prepared environments have developmentally appropriate material and activities that support the child through each stage of infant growth. Because we “follow the child,” we provide a variety of environments where infants can explore based upon her curiosity and mobility, not just her age.
The age range for our infant program is from 8 weeks to 24 months. After the age of 18 months a child may begin his transition to the toddler program. Move-up ages may vary by several months.

BEGINNER PRESCHOOL

24-36 MONTHS

The preschool program at The Montessori School of San Marcos provides continuation in the care of children from infancy through toddlerhood. This program combines the social interaction of the infant room with the development of sensory skills.
Our loving staff provide our toddlers with a nurturing environment ensuring their proper growth and development. Each day the toddlers are provided with opportunities to stimulate their development. We provide activities in the areas of physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and creative growth. The children spend time each day engaged activities that are specially designed for the Montessori Method.

PRESCHOOL

3 – 6 YEARS OLD

A consistent, three-year mixed-age community: Ages 3-6, including kindergarten, in one classroom, staying with the same teaching team for three years (vs. narrow age-groupings with annual teacher changes from the threes to the fours, and so on) early childhood is the most important time for exploration and discovery. The mental development of a child is at its most critical stage from birth through age six. At this stage a child’s mind can be described as a sponge absorbing knowledge from their environment and experience.
Our program promotes social, physical, emotional, and cognitive growth through the use of Montessori materials in a prepared environment. Our dedicated teachers guide children as they explore a variety of Montessori activities in which they discover, explore, classify, organize, and develop skills essential to future academic and social success. Children progress at their own pace and in a way that will benefit them throughout their lives.
In the Montessori classroom there are five areas. Each with a specific purpose. The five areas are Language, Math, Sensorial, Practical Life, and Cultural.
